Baby is being rather odd..
He now spends most of his time in the bathroom.. he talks to the toilet. He will stand up on the edge of the toilet and MEOW very loud.. He then walks around the toilet its self for some odd reason.. I have put his bed in there, but he will still meow all diferent hours of the night.. Has anyone on this site ever had there Kittys do anything like this?? I wish he would stop doing it during the night.. We both still have to work in the morning, where as Baby can sleep all day and yell at the toilet most of the night. I tried closing the door, and he will yell even louder, and come into our bedroom to yell at me that the bathroom door isn't open.. I guess they just get a little weird with age.. Al

i think you might have uninvited critters in your house. i have never had a cat do this-and i've had them do it-and there not turn out to be mice or rats or just god almighty big cockroaches hiding somewhere nearby. your cat hears something you don't. i doubt he's simply gone crazy, this seems too goal-directed. consider a hav a heart rodent trap or setting out nontoxic (to kitties) insect traps-or both. you also might brace yourself for a 'gift' sometime soon, should Baby get lucky.

Yes, some cats do get a bit odd or confused as they age. Our late cat Muffin , who had CRF, tended to spend a lot of time near the sink due to her kidney issues- she wanted water a lot and hated to be far away from it .
Sometimes the eyesight is not what it was when they were younger so that could be affecting Baby- As the other answer pointed out , Baby might be seeing something- but knowing Baby's age-it could be due to visual issues with nothing really there.
I see you are in the Olde Furts group- the forums there would be a great resource for you on this topic as other aging kitties have written about similar issues

I HOPE you don't have tiny livestock in your house. That would keep me up more than one of my cats meowing at the throne! I wonder if your toilet isn't making noises that are upsetting Baby--maybe hissing or water-running or whistling noises or maybe even phantom flushing that upsets him and only he can hear. Maybe it's the potty that needs fixing and not the kitty!

ok this is going to sound strange but my baby Elvis did this when he had a bout of bladder stones, i got a huge cup like you get when you stay in a hospital without the lid and i fill it up several time daily with freah water i put it on the floor for him and he calmed down and he was fine. not sure if that is what maybe wrong with baby. true with age comes quirks, all part of getting older. also maybe watch and see if baby is having problem going to potty? worth a shot. let me know how it lays out with baby your in my prayers....

I read that you can "punish" your cats by using an angry tone of voice. I have a 5 month old kitten who also sometimes will bite during play. I will say "NO" firmly and then blow in her face.
My kitten also has to be in the same room as I and I have practically stepped on her many times. I'm amazed I haven't managed to kill her yet! I find that if I don't let her in the bathroom while I'm showering she will try to pry under the bathroom door and meow loudly. I take her into the bathroom during my shower and she sits on the ledge between the curtains.

I do not think 'punniishing' the cat is the right thing to do at all, becasue this could be a health issue, it probably isn't but punishing still is not the right idea!
